The sermon on my heart

Blessed am I

Blessed am I when I place not my hope in men,
For disappointment shall not find me.

Blessed am I when I trust not in men,
For betrayal shall not overtake me.

Blessed am I when I refuse to sexually objectify women,
For lust shall not rule over my heart.

Blessed am I when I pursue courtship for marriage and not for fleeting pleasure,
For my mind shall be free from unerasable attachments.

Blessed am I when I weep in pain, though the world may call me weak,
For relief shall come to me.

Blessed am I when I speak the truth, even when it wounds those I love,
For my conscience shall remain at peace.

Blessed am I when my life is one and undivided,
For I shall never fear exposure.

Blessed am I when I confess my sins of my own accord, though it painful,
For none shall wield them against me.

Blessed am I when I take not what belongs to all for myself,
For my conscience shall remain clean.

Blessed am I when I seek not to change others, but to inspire change within them,
For frustration shall not consume me.

Blessed am I when I accept that some shall prosper more than I,
For contentment shall dwell within me.

Blessed am I when I know that peace is born of the mind and not of possessions,
For peace shall abide with me always.

Blessed am I when I listen, yet do not follow blindly—even my own words,
For my mind shall remain free.

Truly blessed am I if these words stir another toward goodness,
For I shall depart this world a happy man.
